Hello to all. I am trying to figure out my background. My older brother and I were adopted at young age. We have found out that we do have some Native connections. The last name we were told was "Twa". If anyone can help m with this it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Have learned some new information in search for Bourassa/Pichette/Desjardine family. Some info points to Saskatchewan/Manitoba/Ontario areas. Also specifically Dalton Mills/Algoma area. If anyone knows or has info, plse contact me at: mpimentel4@cogeco. Looking for ancestry info, possible status. Mostly tracking roots for sense of belonging as I was adopted to not so very nice people.

This is wonderful finding MNO website! I am doing genealogy on my family as well as my husband's and it is his mother's family that has the Native ancestry from the Manitoulin Island area -- it is absolutely fascinating what I have found in the last weeks and months which makes for a very interesting "Family Tree" that I can share with members of the family and to pass on to the next generations.

Where to begin... Have been looking to confirm family lore of metis/native blood lines. My Grandfather Rome DesRoches from St Sophie Canada would say we had Navajo blood, my father would respond, "Pa, thats the wrong side of the country".
Nicolas DesRoches is a direct decedent and a documented fur trapper, but no known native wife.
Suzanne Nicolet another ancestor is listed as being part of Sauvagesse de Nipissing nation.
Anyone have any info they can share? I have ancestry going back a ways to founding settlers in Montreal and before.

I enjoy being part of this great genealogy project. This is a great way to link families. I am searching for members of the "Sunday" family in Ontario. They originally came from the USA. I pray God blesses us all and we are able to get links in our families.

I am desperately trying to find my family roots. I was always informed that I was metis, but keep hitting a brick road. Can anyone out there help me. I have a lot of Metis cousins, but can not locate them as it seems my family has seperated, which troubles me immensely. If someone out there can help me, I would truly appreciate it, as I would like to apply for my status, or at least find my ancestors.
Thank you

Hello, I am searching for information on my biological grandparents, originally from northern Ontario. Their names are Alfred Desjarlais and Marion (nee Lonsdale). They were both Metis and Cree and French decent. They moved to the Grand Centre region of AB shortly after marrying. I'm having difficulty in locating any info on them. Their daughter Ann would have been my biological mother. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you.
